Have you ever took the time to understand what gratitude truly is? i am not talking about the meaning of the word, but it is more like the feeling, the recognition and the appreciation that you feel on a much deeper level. Recently i was almost involved in a car accident because another car pushed mine on the passenger side where my 13 years old sister was sitting down. The worst part was the fact that the vehicle that hit me pushed me into another car; which was the car of a police officer. At the moment, i just felt crushed like i had no control of the situation because it was just too sudden and to unexpected to me. Do you know that one special moment when you feel like your heart is beating so fast that it is going to slow down and you can just feel your time is running out, because everything seems to be on a slow motion scale? well,it was just like that; also i remember not being afraid to die, to me death is only a door to a new world but i was scared for my little sister. After all, she is only 13 and i knew if something had happened to her, i would not survive even if i was alive.
But enough about that, now the question you might be asking yourself is: what is the relation between this story and being grateful? if you were there you would understand, and would feel what i’m feeling so you would know that miracle do exist. Nothing happened to my sister nor myself, there was not even a scratch on my car nor the officer’s car; even though the unrighteous person ran away I was not charge or convicted for what happened. So, i made a promise to myself ; every morning when i wake up before getting out of bed to start my morning routine, i will take 3 minutes to realize and take knowledge for all the things that i’m grateful for; such as, my second chance to life, my health, my family, my friends, my beautiful dog, the sun on my skin, the breeze, the beauty of nature, the smell of my favorite food, the way my favorite color makes me feel and most of all i am grateful to the one and only almighty God and his first born Jesus.
So I only have one wish for you all, the next morning when you wake up, take a moment to think about all the things that you are grateful for while your mind is still fresh and clear. Also thank the creator of the universe for all that you have and for all there is to come. You don’t have to be religious to do so, even if you have no religion or fate as long as you believe that there is a force of nature that may be bigger than you are; that is all that matter.
